Understanding Impact has worked with clients around the world on projects ranging from needs assessments to development of entire M&E systems to external evaluations.
I conducted desk research to understand the literacy education space in three countries and advise NABU on strategies to meet their literacy impact goals. I created high-level strategy presentations and created in-depth resources to support NABU's mission.
Amani Institute educates professionals to become social impact innovators. I conducted a mixed methods evaluation of their new program for social enterprise middle managers in Bangalore, resulting in findings that helped them improve and promote the program.
Ngao Foundation (formerly the Ngao Society) provides various forms of support to children and youth in Kibera, Nairobi. I developed a complete M&E system for Ngao Society, including theories of change for their various programs, logic models and measurement tools. I trained the in-house team in using these tools and analyzing and reporting data.
GLAMI (formerly AfricAid) mentors girls in secondary school to achieve their goals and lead their communities. After leaving my position as MEL Director at GLAMI, I transitioned to consulting on the organization’s MEL needs through Understanding Impact. This consultancy included evaluations of COVID-responsive programming, including evaluation design, data collection, analysis and reporting.
One Can Help provides assistance to underserved children and families who are dealing with the juvenile justice and child welfare systems. I conducted qualitative research that explored OCH’s role within the juvenile justice and welfare systems.
MAFGE involves men in the fight for gender equality through workshops and community-driven programs. I conducted a needs assessment for MAFGE, helping them understand the needs of the community they seek to support.
Park&Pick is a grocery delivery service in Rwanda. They faced sharp changes in demand as a result of the coronavirus outbreak. I conducted a survey of current and potential customers that evaluated preferences, helping Park&Pick provide more targeted services.
Her Journey to School provides mentorship and parent education aimed at keeping girls in school. I developed their theory of change and logic model.
In addition to these consultancies, I have served as a full-time monitoring & evaluation leader in successive roles at GLAMI, Educate!, Boston College/University of Rwanda, and now the American Academy of Pediatrics.
